In “Lost in the Land of Bears”, S. Kay continues her exploration of new forms through ‘very short stories’. Each micro story fits the 140 character model. The stories create juxtapositions of technology and nature that pull the reader through an adventure. They tap into the rich literary history of fairy tales, and at the same time, they create their own space in the world of words.
The print version of the book is hand-bound with a unique faux-fur cover. These will be printed in a collector’s edition of 30. Each will be hand numbered. Each will be an art artifact in and of itself.
Through the new form, the book acts on an intimate level with each micro story inviting the reader to delve deep into details and structures. They are sometimes funny, sometimes beautiful, and sometimes tragic. Then each story is linked to a broader narrative that creates a dynamic and exciting experience for the reader.
